For every time I say it’s gonna be a short one, I realize I tend to say a lot anyway, but here’s another attempt lol
We left Liechtenstein this morning…well, our hostel, at least. We rolled out the door at 7 am to catch a bus to Feldkirch, Austria at 7:20. We actually got to the stop soon enough to snag a slightly earlier bus going to the same place, which was nice! It was also good for people watching, as there were a number of folks, including several kiddos, who got on and off for their respective work/school days. It reminded me how different the whole school bus system is that we have in the States. Once in Feldkirch, the plan was supposed to be to ride that train all the way to Vienna Hauptbahnhof. It was going to be about 6 hours, give or take some longer pauses…that thought process lasted the two hours we managed to ride on a VERY packed train (I’m talking people packed like sardines and climbing over each other getting on and off) to Innsbruck, where we disembarked and then reserved seats on a different train also going to Vienna, but it didn’t leave until closer to 11, giving us about 40 minutes from the time we got to Innsbruck to get breakfast (we didn’t eat before leaving the hostel this morning). So, not only was I overwhelmed and feeling claustrophobic on the initial train, I was hungry…it was not a good look :/ Once on the “new” train, we ended up staying on that one for about 4.5 hours all the way to Vienna. We were supposed to swap trains at Salzburg, but the train we were on was a) running behind and b) going to Vienna, so we ate the cost of the reserved seats on the other train and stayed put where we were. I caught up to Brandon on Stranger Things Vol. 4 (we are both done the first 5 episodes), and we enjoyed a nice schnitzel sandwich for lunch! Once in Vienna, it was about a 10 minute walk to our hotel, Hotel Daniel. It has a very modern look, and there is a boat on top of the building. I have no idea why…anywho, we checked in and got to our room, which has a hammock swing thingy in it! It reminds me that I would love one in our future home :) We puttered for a bit as we were hoping to catch dinner with an old friend of Brandon’s. She was a foreign exchange student that came to Jin Thorpe when he was in high school who is from Austria. She currently lives in Vienna and saw my Facebook post about us coming to Europe, so she reached out! Unfortunately, work got crazy for her tonight, so dinner didn’t end up in the cards, but we’re hoping we can catch her for breakfast before we leave Sunday (fingers crossed!). We got dinner at a place call Campus Braü and had probably the most energetic server I’ve ever met. He was wonderful! Tomorrow, we’re going to do some laundry in the morning before our adventures begin for the day. I also realize that this was once again NOT a short post, but I appreciate you sticking with me! Enjoy the pictures!
