‘Twas a lazy day today. We didn’t do very much or go very far, which is okay!
We woke up quite late and had a little breakfast. We played some cards (Brandon beat me AGAIN), and then we decided to make a run into Hattingen. Before we did that, we finally got around to writing out some postcards we had picked up several weeks ago so that we could send them out. We took the Straßenbahn into town and found a Deutsche Post location in the Kaufland where we were able to get stamps and send out our cards. After that, we popped back into the mall as I wanted to look for a dress, or, at least, something a little nicer to wear for church this Sunday. There is a congregation nearby that runs their services in English, and one of the pastors there is someone Brandon knows from Kutztown. While I do have some nice jeans and shirts I could use, I figured it’d be easier to find a sundress or something :) I found a dress at H&M and then Brandon and I caught some lunch at a pizzeria. We split one Hawaiian and one Gyro pizza between us. The gyro pizza came with tzatziki, and it was INCREDIBLE! We headed back to the house after that and played MORE rummy. I continued to not win. Alicia joined us, and for a while, her and I were running 1st and 2nd with Brandon losing by a significant margin. But towards the end, he made a ridiculous comeback and ended up winning! After that, we switched to playing solitaire as a group (it worked surprisingly well). For dinner, Alina made Gigantes (like baked beans, but slightly different), roasted cauliflower, and potato noodles (like gnocchi, but again, slightly different). Everything was delightful, as always! We had some fresh figs from the tree in the garden for dessert. It was my first time having fresh ones; I’ve only ever eaten them dried! Then, it was time for chilling and getting ready to settle in for the evening. While it wasn’t a particularly eventful day, it was still good, from the activities to the weather :) I continue to be grateful for you following along with my writings! It means a lot :) Until tomorrow, friends!
