There are not so many photos from today, but that is because much of it was spent making memories :)
The day began with some breakfast on the balcony. The weather was forecast to be quite hot today (37C…you can do the math), and even at breakfast, you could begin to feel the heat. We got through without too much sweating, though, and then contemplated the plan for the rest of the day. Alicia left shortly after breakfast to go with a friend into town to look for a birthday gift. She was gone for a few hours, and while she was away: Alina did some cleaning; Peter, Brandon, and I chit-chatted, and then eventually we all relaxed. Brandon and I took a nap. Alina relaxed on the balcony, and Peter did some sewing repairs to some clothing. We enjoyed our nap very much :) Prior to our nap, while we were chatting, Alina had also prepared some gazpacho that we all enjoyed a little later. I had never had gazpacho before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Alina’s looked a lot like a tomato bisque, but it had so many different vegetables in it that the flavor was just out of this world! She also made some Pizzaschnekce (pizza snails), little bread rolls with a pizza spread in it, to go with the gazpacho. As with everything so far, it was delicious! Alicia came home shortly after the four adults had finished our gazpacho and Pizzaschnecke, and she ate a little before we moved on to the next activity. Since it was warm out, Peter, Alicia, Brandon, and I went down to a part of the river near a local campground. Peter, Alicia, and I went stand-up paddling. Brandon walked along a trail next to the river. It was only my second time on the SUP, but I felt a lot more comfortable and stable today. I’d say I did a pretty good job! I did fall off once, but I am pretty sure I know what I did, so now I know for next time :) We were on the river for a little while, between paddling and taking breaks to swim. We got back to our original entry area around 5 and headed back to the house. We got some water and then Alina joined us all to go in the river near their house so we could float for a little while down the river. The current of the river is pretty strong, so you really do just need to float. In fact, trying to do too much swimming, I found, wore me out pretty hard. We got a few hundred meters down the river and then did another round from a slightly different starting point, then did a third round only to our original entry point near Alina and Peter’s house. After some showers, Brandon and I helped Alina with some dinner preparation. Specifically, we helped chop some herbs to put into some homemade tzatziki Alina made to go with the red lentil burgers we ate. We decided to name it Alina-ziki, and it was HEAVENLY. In addition to the burgers and Alina-ziki, we had some potato noodles, garlic Parmesan cauliflower, and leftover Pizzaschnecke. Then, we hung out on the balcony for a while enjoying the evening and making a plan for tomorrow. As it stands, we may be crossing some borders (but that’s all I’ll say) for the day! Once more, I am grateful for all of you who are actively following along with this blog, whether it’s just reading, enjoying the photos, commenting, or a mixture of it all. As a people pleaser, I appreciate how many of you have told me how pleased you are with my musings :) This week, I am going to try to start incorporating some more German into my writing (a suggestion by Peter and Alina, and one I feel is valid and important) so prepare yourselves for the potential of needing to copy some text into Google Translate! Until tomorrow, enjoy this small photo gallery!
